The Minnesota JCI Senate is an independent organization, with its own constitution and bylaws, associated with JCI Minnesota and a member organization of the United States JCI Senate. The purposes of the Senate include:
- Assisting and mentoring Jaycees.
- Supporting the Minnesota JCI Senate Foundation and the US JCI Senate Foundation in bestowing college scholarships to graduating seniors.
- Promoting fellowship among its members.
Membership in the Minnesota JCI Senate is open to any Jaycee that has been recognized with a Senatorship, the highest international honor that can be given to a Jaycee. A Senator who received their Senatorship that was submitted through JCI Minnesota is automatically a member of the Minnesota JCI Senate for one year.
The United States JCI Senate is divided into ten Regions. The Minnesota JCI Senate is a member of Region VI along with JCI Senate organizations from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Only 1 out of 1,000 Jaycees becomes a Senator.
